Global alert (Site-wide alert)

Information alert

For content authors: DCJ refers to them as "site-wide alerts" in the authoring environment.

A global alert is displayed across the top of an entire site to show important information to users.

Refer to NSW Digital Design System - Global alert for full guidance and demo on how and when to use this.

Labels: 01 title, 02 close button, 03 summary and hyperlink.

Placement

A global alert always appears above the masthead and header. When activated, it will appear on every page of your website.

Customisation

Global alerts are styled for their purpose:

  • Default alert - used to show non-critical information
  • Critical alert - commonly used for emergencies, warnings or critical alerts.
  • Light alert - used as an alternative to the blue default on sites where blue features prominently.

DCJ authoring guidelines

  • Title: maximum 60 characters.
  • Summary: no character limit. Keep global alerts simple, concise and meaningful.
